Early in the match, Swiatek, a five-time Grand Slam champion, found herself at a disadvantage, trailing 4-1 in the first set. With this victory, Swiatek has now reached the third round in 22 consecutive Grand Slam tournaments, joining an elite group comprising Amelie Mauresmo and Serena Williams. The eighth seed now prepares for a match against another American player, Danielle Collins.
