Jittu Estate in Suva buzzed with energy as community members, including youths, children, and families, gathered for the Vuvale Fun Day, organized by Inspire Pacific. The event sought to bring the community together through sports, while also shedding light on pressing issues faced by young people across the nation.
Ben Morrison, director of Inspire Pacific, expressed his satisfaction with the event’s successful turnout, indicating plans for more community-focused events in the future. “This is definitely not the last time we will be having these types of events, and we hope sporting bodies can also host more activities like this, especially for the youths,” Morrison stated.
Jittu Estate, which has been grappling with high crime rates involving youths, served as a fitting backdrop for the event. Morrison emphasized that one of the primary goals of the Vuvale Fun Day was to engage young people in positive and constructive activities, particularly through sports, as a means to divert them from illegal and harmful behaviors.
This initiative not only highlights the importance of community bonding but also represents a hopeful step towards fostering a safer and more nurturing environment for the youth in Suva. By continuing to organize such events, Inspire Pacific aims to empower young individuals, steering them towards positivity and collaboration within their community.
