Suva has introduced a cutting-edge digital parking solution aimed at modernizing street parking and enhancing urban services. The new app, named Bula Parki, enables users to pay without cash and replenish their parking credits at their convenience using mobile wallets.
Tevita Boseiwaqa, Chair of the Suva City Council, emphasized that the app will notify users before their parking time expires, helping to prevent unintentional fines. He noted the necessity of transitioning from outdated parking meters, many of which are inoperable due to a shortage of spare parts.
Boseiwaqa highlighted that Bula Parki aligns with the city’s ambition to evolve into a smart city by embracing digitalization and improving service delivery. Dineshwar Lal, Managing Director of D2UNET, expressed confidence that the app will address parking challenges throughout Suva effectively.
The City Council has hailed this launch as a significant milestone for residents, commuters, and stakeholders alike. Boseiwaqa further conveyed that this initiative establishes a new standard for urban services not just in Fiji but throughout the Pacific region. This transition towards a more technologically integrated urban infrastructure reflects a positive step forward in enhancing the overall quality of life for the city’s inhabitants.
