Suva Skipper Cup Finals: Malolo vs Naitasiri in a Must-Watch Rugby Showdown

A significant gathering of rugby fans from the western division is anticipated in Suva for the upcoming Skipper Cup finals. The event is set to showcase thrilling matches, including the under-20 final featuring Nadi and Naitasiri, along with the senior men’s championship where Malolo will face Naitasiri.

Malolo’s team manager, Semi Cabenalotu, expressed optimism about the support from fans, highlighting the diverse background of players on the squad. Many players hail from Nadroga and Navosa districts, with some even coming from Vanua Levu. This inclusive representation is expected to bolster community support for Malolo during the final.

On the other side, Naitasiri’s head coach, Timoci Tinaviti, is confident that their fans will continue to back them, having shown strong support in previous matches, including their recent travels to Ba. With a storied history in the competition, Naitasiri aims to break a 15-year title drought, their last win dating back to 2010.

Meanwhile, the Nadi under-20 squad aims to rectify defensive mistakes made in their semifinal against Ba, where they were exposed. Manager Viliame Tuidraki emphasized the importance of fortifying their defense to give them a fighting chance in the final.

The finals will take place on Saturday, with the Under-20 match kicking off at 1 PM, followed by the Subrail Marama final between Suva and Namosi at 11 AM, and culminating in the Skipper Cup final at 3 PM. All matches will be broadcast live on FBC 2.

As anticipation builds for these critical contests, the atmosphere promises to be electric, reflecting the unity and passion of Fijian rugby supporters. The finals not only showcase athletic talent but also symbolize community pride and the deep-rooted love for the sport in Fiji, setting the stage for a memorable day in rugby history.
