Suva Grammar School held a significant Prefect Induction ceremony last Thursday, marking a key moment in the academic calendar. During this event, Headgirl Anna Jikoibau and Headboy Brendon Leo made a commitment to guide their school community with integrity, pledging to support their peers and educators in their upcoming responsibilities.
Education Minister Aseri Radrodro addressed the attendees, underscoring that authentic leadership goes beyond mere titles and badges. He noted, “Each of you has the capacity to lead through commitment to your studies, teamwork in sports, and kindness in your daily interactions,” reinforcing the idea that leadership can manifest in various aspects of student life.
Radrodro also took the opportunity to acknowledge the vital role parents and guardians play in their children’s educational journey, highlighting the collaborative partnership necessary between families and the school. Such support is crucial for nurturing responsible and capable young leaders.
The ceremony featured the official recognition of over 128 students as prefects, with enthusiastic parents, guardians, and members of the school community present to celebrate this noteworthy event. This induction not only marked the start of a new leadership chapter for these students but also emphasized the importance of community and cooperation in nurturing the leaders of tomorrow.
