Two men accused of robbing a 50-year-old man of his watch and $9 at the Top Shop in Raiwai, Suva, made their court appearance at the Suva Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Lagani Rabukawaqa, 23, and Saimoni Macedru, 25, have each been charged with aggravated robbery.
The allegations state that the robbery took place on the morning of December 14. Remarkably, both men decided to waive their right to legal representation and are choosing to represent themselves throughout the proceedings.
The court has adjourned the case until December 30, with both defendants remanded in custody until that date. This incident highlights ongoing concerns about safety and crime in public places. The legal system will continue to address this matter as it unfolds.
