Sutton Foster’s Divorce Sparks Hugh Jackman Romance Rumors

Actress Sutton Foster has initiated divorce proceedings from her husband of ten years, sparking widespread speculation about a potential romantic involvement with Hugh Jackman, known for his role in “Wolverine.”

Foster submitted her uncontested divorce request from screenwriter Ted Griffin on October 22, as reported by the New York Post. This move comes just a few months after she sold their historic Gilded Age estate in New York for $2 million.

The star of “Younger,” who performed alongside Jackman in the acclaimed Broadway production “The Music Man,” acquired the beautiful home located in Tuxedo Park, NY, in 2021 for $1.6 million. She opted to list the property—featuring seven bedrooms and five bathrooms—for $2.2 million in December 2023.

Selling the home, which Foster previously described as “magical,” must have been a difficult decision. She had stated to Architectural Digest that the house was the ideal setting for raising her daughter, Emily, envisioning countless Christmas celebrations and family gatherings there.

Foster and Griffin first discovered the Gilded Age estate while seeking a “permanent” residence outside of New York City, drawn to Tuxedo Park’s gated community.

Reflecting on their search, Foster recalled their initial curiosity about Tuxedo Park. She said Griffin believed he had found their “forever home,” and upon entering, she shared that she shared his sentiment, feeling it was the perfect place for their child to grow up.

With the end of their marriage, some may speculate whether the decision to sell their home hinted at their separation.

The home was listed for sale coinciding with rumors of Foster’s alleged romance with Jackman, who had recently finalized a separation from his wife of 27 years, Deborra-Lee Furness.

Reports have suggested that the chemistry the two shared onstage transitioned into a real-life relationship during their collaboration on “The Music Man,” which ran from December 2021 to January 2023.

Interestingly, prior to her Broadway role, Foster sold another property—a charming A-frame in Los Angeles—receiving $1.5 million for it in October 2021.

This Los Angeles home was also designed by Michael Ostrow, with whom Foster collaborated to create colorful and inviting interiors. The residence was well-received for its unique designs and character.

The Tuxedo Park estate, built in 1895 by architect Bruce Price, has historical significance, as it was also home to Emily Post, a renowned author known for her writings on etiquette.

Besides her New York estate and the recently sold L.A. home, Foster owns a penthouse in Manhattan and a residence in Greenwood Lake, NY, which she has also personalized with Ostrow’s design expertise.

Foster purchased the lake house in 2010, four years before she married Griffin in Santa Barbara, CA. After the wedding, the couple moved into their Manhattan dwelling. Foster mentioned in a 2014 Wall Street Journal interview that her lake house served as a sanctuary from city life, offering her solace during her breaks from performance schedules.

The news of Foster’s divorce arrives shortly after Jackman announced his separation from Furness, with whom he shares two children. The couple described their nearly three-decade marriage as loving but announced their decision to part ways to focus on personal growth.

Neither Sutton Foster nor Hugh Jackman have publicly acknowledged the rumors regarding their relationship. However, sources claim that they wish to maintain privacy around any potential romance, suggesting they are deeply committed to each other despite their efforts to keep it under wraps.
