Sutton Foster’s Divorce: Is a Romance with Hugh Jackman Blossoming?

Actress Sutton Foster has initiated divorce proceedings from her husband of a decade, screenwriter Ted Griffin, prompting speculation about a potential romance with Hugh Jackman, star of “Wolverine.”

Foster filed for an uncontested divorce on October 22, as reported by the New York Post. This development comes just months after she sold her historic Gilded Age property in New York for $2 million. The “Younger” actress, who starred alongside Jackman in the Broadway hit “The Music Man,” bought the six-bedroom home in Tuxedo Park, NY, for $1.6 million in 2021 and listed it for $2.2 million in December 2023.

Selling the home, which Foster called “magical,” must have been difficult, especially since she once expressed her hopes of creating lasting family memories there. In past interviews, she described the home as ideal for raising children and shared her vision of celebrating holidays with Griffin and their daughter, Emily.

As their marriage has come to an end, questions arise regarding whether the decision to sell the house foreshadowed their split. Interestingly, Foster chose to list the property around the same time rumors about her rumored relationship with Jackman emerged, shortly after he separated from his wife Deborra-Lee Furness after 27 years of marriage.

Reports suggest that the chemistry between Foster and Jackman on stage translated into a real relationship during their collaboration on “The Music Man,” which ran from December 2021 to January 2023. Interestingly, months before joining the cast, Foster sold another property, a Los Angeles A-frame, for $1.5 million in October 2021.

Foster worked closely with designer Michael Ostrow to add warmth and character to both her Los Angeles and New York homes. The historic Tuxedo Park residence was built in 1895 and designed by architect Bruce Price, whose daughter, Emily Post, was a renowned author on etiquette.

In addition to the New York estate and her former L.A. home, Foster has owned a penthouse in Manhattan and a house in Greenwood Lake, NY. She purchased the lake house in 2010 as a retreat from city life and expressed her preference for a balance between urban energy and country tranquility.

Foster’s divorce news arrives just over a year after Jackman and Furness announced their separation, stating their decision was rooted in a desire for personal growth. The couple shares two children. While neither Foster nor Jackman has publicly addressed the rumors surrounding their relationship, sources indicate they prefer to keep their romance out of the spotlight, although they are reportedly committed to each other.
