A suspicious package discovered at the Stephen P. Clark Government Center in Downtown Miami prompted a precautionary evacuation on Monday morning. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office reported that they were alerted to the package around 9:20 a.m. Authorities responded swiftly, deploying its bomb squad to investigate the situation.
As a result of the alert, the entire building and the surrounding area were evacuated to ensure public safety. Shortly after the investigation, officials confirmed that the package was not a threat, and by late morning, the all clear was given. Normal operations at the government center have since resumed.
In addition to the evacuation, this incident also affected public transportation in the area. Miami-Dade Transit reported temporary suspensions of Metrorail and Metromover services while the situation was assessed. Southbound Metrorail trains had been redirected at Culmer Station, and northbound trains were halted at Brickell Station, with Government Center Station temporarily closed and shuttle buses deployed for commuters. Transit officials indicated that while services are resuming, some residual delays may persist as operations return to regular schedules.
