Christopher Pryde, the suspended Director of Public Prosecutions, is pushing for an expedited judicial review regarding the suspension of his salary and benefits. His attorney, Ashnil Kumar Narayan, has highlighted the urgent nature of this situation, as Pryde’s employment contract is set to expire in March 2026.

In a recent court session, the State requested additional time to address the case, pointing to a personal matter involving the Solicitor-General. While Mr. Narayan acknowledged this need for delay, he emphasized the importance of moving forward promptly, given the impending expiration of Pryde’s contract.

Justice Savenaca Banuve supported Narayan’s call for a quick resolution and mandated that all involved parties prepare and submit their documents by December 12. A decision regarding the leave application is anticipated by December 22.

This case underscores the complexities of the judicial framework and highlights the need for timely decisions, especially for individuals holding significant public service positions. The forthcoming ruling will be pivotal in determining the trajectory of Pryde’s career and the broader implications for public office management. The hope remains that a fair and expedient resolution will contribute to stability in the judiciary and foster confidence in public service roles.
