A suspect has been apprehended in connection with an alarming incident at the office of Acting U.S. Attorney for New Jersey, Alina Habba. U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi confirmed the suspect’s custody on Saturday, emphasizing a no-tolerance policy towards threats and acts of violence against federal attorneys.

In her statement, Bondi declared, “No one will get away with threatening or intimidating our great US Attorneys or the destruction of their offices,” while also expressing gratitude towards law enforcement for their quick response.

Although the suspect’s identity remains undisclosed, sources report that he had initially been denied entry to the building due to possessing a baseball bat. After leaving the premises, he returned without the bat, requested a meeting with Habba which was denied, and subsequently caused significant damage in the waiting area before fleeing.

The incident was first reported by The New York Times, which highlighted that the suspect had attempted to enter the office with the bat. Following the apprehension, Habba took to social media, expressing relief and thanking Bondi. She clarified that such acts of intimidation would not be tolerated and assured the public that “now justice will handle him.”

Habba has been serving as the Justice Department’s chief prosecutor in New Jersey since March. Although she was initially nominated by the president for the permanent role, this nomination was later withdrawn, resulting in her position as an acting U.S. attorney—a decision that has attracted some legal scrutiny.

This event underscores the continued commitment to safeguarding the integrity and safety of federal law enforcement officials, reflecting the strong stance against violence and intimidation in the judicial system.
