Will Reeve, the son of the iconic Superman actor Christopher Reeve, celebrated his engagement to Amanda Dubin while making a special appearance at the afterparty for the premiere of the new Superman film directed by James Gunn in Los Angeles on July 7. In a nod to his family’s legacy, Will has a cameo in this film, led by David Corenswet as the titular character, 47 years after his father first brought Superman to the big screen in 1978.

At the afterparty, attended by many Hollywood stars and fellow cast members including Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult, Will looked dapper in a blue pinstripe suit, accompanied by Amanda, who dazzled in a shimmering silver gown. Their engagement, announced on Instagram in November 2024, has been met with excitement from friends and colleagues, with Will’s ABC News coworkers sending their congratulations.

Will spoke to PEOPLE about the engagement, calling it “the happiest night of our lives,” and expressed his intentions to honor his late father during their wedding by wearing his cufflinks. David Corenswet has praised Will, describing him as “a very sweet and encouraging and positive guy,” highlighting the meaningful connection between Will and the latest depiction of Superman. Corenswet noted the encouragement Will provided on set, recognizing the significance his father’s legacy brings to the project.

As Will and Amanda step into this new chapter of their lives, their love story continues to intertwine with the legacy of Superman, emphasizing themes of hope and perseverance. The new Superman film is set to fly into theaters on July 11, promising a fresh take on a beloved character.
