The Phoenix Suns have swiftly added an undrafted rookie to their roster, signing Appalachian State forward CJ Huntley to a two-way contract. This move was reported by ESPN’s Jonathan Givony.
Huntley showcased his talent throughout his five collegiate seasons at App State, consistently improving his game. In his final season of 2024/25, he averaged 15.7 points and 8.1 rebounds per game while boasting an impressive shooting percentage of 49.3% from the field and 35.6% from beyond the arc. Standing at 6’10”, Huntley offers the Suns a promising developmental stretch big man.
Givony highlighted that Huntley gained significant attention during the pre-draft process, particularly after delivering an impressive performance at the Portsmouth Invitational, further showcasing his potential to become a valuable player.
Currently, the Suns have not committed to any two-way contracts, allowing them the flexibility to fill two more spots if they so desire. Previously, players such as Collin Gillespie, Jalen Bridges, and TyTy Washington ended the 2024/25 season on two-way deals with Phoenix but are now entering free agency.
This signing represents a strategic move for the Suns as they look to bolster their roster with emerging talent. Huntley’s skills and development could prove beneficial for the team’s future ambitions, illustrating that the Suns are focused on building a competitive and diverse lineup.
