Attorneys David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn, and Gregory A. Hall from the law firm McCarter & English have officially represented Sunrun Installation Services in a civil rights lawsuit that is currently in progress. The lawsuit was initiated on September 4 in the Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of George Edward Steins, a former employee of Sunrun.
Steins was arrested and charged with the improper use of an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The lawsuit alleges that Sunrun failed to notify the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that Steins’ employment had terminated in 2017, as well as the fact that he no longer possessed the company’s home improvement contractor license. According to the lawsuit, had Sunrun communicated this information, the charges against Steins would not have been filed, as they were ultimately dismissed in May 2024.
The case has been assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, and is cataloged under the case number 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
This situation highlights the importance of clear communication within companies regarding employee status and licensing, which can have significant legal implications. The dismissal of the charges against Steins suggests that the court may view his situation favorably, potentially paving the way for a resolution that provides clarity and support for those affected by similar circumstances in the future.
