Wednesday morning brought light rain and drizzle to the metro area, particularly east of Interstate 5, starting as early as 5 a.m. Fortunately, the rain is expected to ease up before noon. According to the National Weather Service, coastal regions are likely to experience more rain, while the rest of the metro area will endure mostly cloudy conditions throughout the day. Portland’s temperature is predicted to reach around 69 degrees.

Cloud cover will persist into Thursday morning, but warmer temperatures are on the horizon as a ridge of high pressure develops over the area. The National Weather Service estimates that most valley locations will have a 60-80% chance of exceeding 80 degrees on Thursday, with Portland likely experiencing a high of approximately 83 degrees by the afternoon as clouds clear.

Friday is anticipated to bring a warm, mostly sunny day with highs nearing 84 degrees, accompanied by increasing winds of 10-20 mph in the afternoon. Looking ahead, the weekend forecast predicts hot conditions, with highs projected to peak in the 90s both days, and some models suggest a possible approach to 100 degrees on Sunday, although this remains uncertain and dependent on wind direction.

Long-range forecasts indicate that this warm spell may continue into next week, with clear skies and high temperatures in the upper 80s expected on both Monday and Tuesday. As the weather warms, many residents may look forward to enjoying outdoor activities and the summer-like feel that these temperatures bring, providing a bright spot in the late season.
