The theme for this year’s event is “United For Victory – Stronger Together Against Drugs and HIV,” reflecting the Forces’ dedication to addressing significant social issues within Fiji.
At the launch of the Sukuna Bowl in Nasova, Colonel Viliame Draunibaka, representing the RFMF Commander, stressed the importance of collaboration between the two Forces in combating the challenges posed by drug abuse and HIV. Deputy Commissioner of Police Aporosa Lutunauga echoed this sentiment, asserting that the absence of Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu should not be interpreted as a sign of fear but rather as a demonstration of unity in their shared mission.
This year’s event will showcase 15 different sporting disciplines, culminating in rugby and soccer matches scheduled for November 20th and 21st at Subrail Park in Labasa, marking a new location for this storied competition. The anticipation is high following last year’s thrilling encounter that resulted in a draw, with both teams finishing 11-11 at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
Major General Jone Kalouniwai has previously highlighted that the Ratu Sukuna Bowl aims to foster a drug-free environment through family unity and reconciliation.
