Sukuna Bowl Countdown: Army Netball Aims to Defend Title Amid Tight Prep

As the countdown to the 2025 Vodafone Sukuna Bowl begins, the Army netball team is expressing confidence despite having a condensed preparation period leading up to the event. With just two weeks remaining, team representative Esita Batiniqila acknowledged that this year’s buildup differs significantly from previous years, emphasizing the challenges posed by the limited training time.

Batiniqila stated, “Preparations this year are a bit different compared to the past few years due to the lack of time given to us to prepare, and as we know, the competition is two weeks away.” Nevertheless, she affirmed the team’s strong belief in their coaches and the training they have undertaken, stating, “However, we are confident in ourselves and what the coaches have equipped us with.”

The Army team is eager to defend their title at the annual event, which will commence on November 17 in Suva, followed by rugby and soccer matches to be held in Vanua Levu on the 20th and 21st. Batiniqila also called upon fans and families to come out and support the team as they seek to maintain their championship status.

In previous years, the rival Police netball team has been equally determined in their preparations, highlighted by their accelerated training sessions aimed at reclaiming the title, which they last held before the Army’s recent dominance. The spirit of competition is high, with both teams preparing vigorously as they look forward to this thrilling matchup.

The Sukuna Bowl not only reflects the competitive nature of the teams but also fosters community spirit among supporters and players alike. As the teams gear up for the showdown, the anticipation is palpable, and it is hoped that both the Army and Police teams will deliver outstanding performances, inspiring future participation and unity within the community.
