Subnautica 2: Dive into New Worlds with Cooperative Gameplay!

The sequel to the popular ocean exploration game Subnautica, titled Subnautica 2, has been officially announced during the Xbox Partner preview. Set to launch on PC and Xbox Series X and S in 2025, the game will be available through the Xbox Game Preview program and will also be included in Game Pass from day one.

This new chapter in the Subnautica franchise will transport players to an entirely different planet, featuring a variety of new environments, plants, and creatures to explore. Additionally, the game introduces cooperative gameplay for up to four players, marking a first for the series.

Donya Abrams, Community Manager at Unknown Worlds, highlighted the exciting new features in a post on Xbox Wire, stating, “Whether you’re bringing the experience of your previous adventures with you or are new to the Subnautica games, you’ll get to explore lush new environments, encounter fascinating creatures around every corner, and uncover the secrets at the core of this mysterious planet.” Abrams also promised that while the game may initially feel familiar to long-time fans, it will present fresh and unique experiences that will keep players engaged.

In response to fan concerns regarding monetization, Unknown Worlds reassured players last month that there will be “no season passes. No battle passes. No subscription,” and that cooperative play will remain optional, thereby preserving the single-player experience.

The last installment, Subnautica: Below Zero, released in 2021, received high praise, earning a nine out of ten from IGN.
