The Yadako sub-junior volleyball team has made a remarkable entrance into the Tui Suva Volleyball competition by defeating the much-favored Toba team 1-0 in their opening match. Coach Nasoni Ravosai expressed his immense pride in the team’s energetic performance, highlighting the determination shown by these young athletes.
Representing the Suvavou community, located near the RB Patel shopping complex, this sub-junior team features players under 14 years of age. Ravosai, who has strong ties to the community through marriage, has been deeply touched by their commitment to using volleyball as a tool to uplift and empower the youth. “When I joined the community, I was truly impressed by how much they value volleyball, especially with this tournament celebrating its 30th year,” he stated.
Ravosai underlined the importance of the sport in fostering unity among young people, steering them away from negative influences, such as the increasing issues related to drugs in the nation. He praised the community’s efforts to ensure that younger players are included in competitions and advocated for the ongoing tradition, which he believes nurtures future leaders.
The positive and uplifting atmosphere surrounding the competition underscores the community’s investment in its youth, paving the way for a brighter future through the principles of sports and teamwork. Such initiatives not only enhance skills but also empower young individuals, instilling values that will benefit them for years to come.
