Dr. Jill Biden donned a lilac blazer as she joined her husband, U.S. President Joe Biden, for their departure from the White House in Washington, D.C., to Chicago. They are set to speak at the Democratic National Convention on Monday night.
The First Lady’s double-breasted blazer, designed by Ralph Lauren Collection, features peak lapels and crown-engraved buttons. She paired the outfit with white trousers and her favored Dior floral pumps. President Biden was seen in a navy blue suit complemented by a red and blue tie, along with Ray-Ban aviator sunglasses.
Many prominent politicians, including Vice President Kamala Harris and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, have donned purple attire during significant political moments in the U.S., including during Joe Biden’s inauguration in January 2021. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was also spotted in Chicago wearing purple prior to the DNC.
Jill Biden is known for frequently supporting American designers like Ralph Lauren and has worn the brand publicly at various high-profile events, including the Paris Olympics opening ceremony and during a state dinner for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as at King Charles III’s coronation earlier this year.
Kamala Harris is set to open the Democratic National Convention on Monday, with around 5,000 delegates expected to participate in the four-day event. Notable guests will include former U.S. Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. Joe and Jill Biden will be among the speakers on the convention’s opening night, alongside figures such as Hillary Clinton, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, Rep. James E. Clyburn, and New York Governor Kathy Hochul.
