Queen Victoria School recently hosted its Strides for Strength Walkathon, an event that brought together students, alumni, families, and supporters to convey a powerful message: violence has no place in our society.
The walkathon sought to mobilize men and boys to actively denounce abusive behavior, promote respect, and foster safer environments within homes and communities. Emphasizing the importance of positive masculinity, the event highlighted responsible parenting and encouraged everyday actions that can help prevent violence against women and girls.
Inclusivity was a central theme of the event, with participants dedicating their efforts to individuals living with disabilities. This aligns with the worldwide 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, reinforcing the commitment to equality and safety for all.
Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, Sashi Kiran, officiated at the walk and commended the school and its Old Boys for leveraging this initiative to raise awareness about safety, disability inclusion, and the importance of standing against violence.
This event signifies a collective step towards a more inclusive and safer society, sending a hopeful message that change is possible when communities come together to advocate for respect and understanding.
