After a long wait of three and a half years since the fourth season, fans of Netflix’s hit series “Stranger Things” are just days away from the release of the show’s fifth and final installment. Volume One, featuring the first four episodes, is set to premiere on November 27, heightening the anticipation for its dramatic conclusion.
The show’s stars, Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler) and Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), recently revealed their emotional reactions upon reading the script for the first time. Finn described the experience as a mix of excitement and nostalgia, saying, “Once we actually started reading it, it was like – there was so much energy. I got halfway through it, and I started to get really emotional because it dawned on me that this was coming to an end.”
Caleb emphasized the lengths to which the cast and crew went to keep the show’s secrets under wraps. He humorously mentioned, “Honestly, I read it, then I forgot about everything,” adding that they were prohibited from keeping copies of the script. They only received the script right before they were set to begin filming.
The cast’s experience throughout the year-long filming process brought mixed emotions for many of them. Joe Keery, known for his role as Steve Harrington, shared that the finale feels bittersweet after a demanding shoot that began in January and wrapped in December. “It’s everything,” he remarked, reflecting on the emotional journey they experienced as they wrapped up the beloved series.
Maya Hawke, who portrays Robin Buckley, echoed this sentiment, expressing feelings of both “grief and gratitude” during her final day on set, while Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers) remarked on the unique experience of completing a project that spanned a full calendar year, allowing for a sense of closure.
The adventure for the characters, which began in the 1980s, culminated dramatically in season four when Vecna killed Max, setting off distress signals for the remaining group of friends who must now confront the merging of the Upside Down with their world.
As fans gear up to watch the new season, they can expect an exciting continuation of the storyline, along with potential surprises and resolutions for beloved characters. After Volume One’s release, Volume Two will follow shortly with episodes five to seven on Boxing Day, culminating with the final episode available on New Year’s Day.
This final season presents an opportunity for both the cast and viewers to reflect on the growth experienced over the years, building anticipation for what is sure to be a memorable conclusion to a groundbreaking series.
