Stormy Weekend Ahead: What to Expect in Minnesota

Spotty showers continue to affect parts of Minnesota, marking the end of a wet weather pattern that has already led to significant rainfall accumulation in many areas. While today’s rain has been somewhat inconsistent, the gloomy and cool atmosphere remains prevalent.

Looking ahead, Sunday is expected to bring more scattered storm chances, particularly in the morning and again later in the day. Fortunately, severe weather is not anticipated for Sunday, but the conditions are setting up for potentially more impactful weather on Monday.

A Forecast First Alert is in place for Monday, with an increased risk for strong to severe thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening hours. Currently, wind and hail are considered the main threats, and residents should be mindful of changing conditions—especially if outdoor activities are planned.

Scattered storm chances will continue through the week, with Tuesday night through Friday showing at least a low to moderate risk for thunderstorms each day. Although these storms may not be widespread, they could lead to additional heavy rainfall.

On a positive note, by next weekend, the weather is expected to transition to drier and hotter conditions. Saturday looks promising with mostly sunny skies and a warm, humid feel, resembling a summer retreat just as the week concludes.

This upcoming shift in weather patterns could not only provide relief from the recent rain but also offer an opportunity for residents to enjoy outdoor activities in more favorable conditions.
