Warm weather in Omaha hit its peak for 2025 this week with temperatures soaring into the low 90s. However, as the evening approaches, cooler air is expected to bring a shift in weather patterns, leading to an increased chance of storms overnight.

Forecasts indicate that storms will likely form northwest of the Omaha metropolitan area after 9 PM, advancing east and southeast throughout the night. The most intense storms are anticipated between 1 AM and 4 AM, particularly for those in the metro area, with the potential for loud thunder, isolated wind gusts, and hail.

The strongest storm activity is expected to remain west of the metro. However, residents should prepare for possible wind gusts reaching up to 60 mph and isolated hail of around one inch as the storms progress toward the city.

As the cold front brings rain tonight, it will also usher in a drop in temperatures, with lows expected in the mid-60s by morning, descending to upper 50s by noon.

There’s a silver lining to the forecast: temperatures are expected to rebound into the 70s on Wednesday and remain mild through the week. More rain opportunities could arise before the week concludes, contributing to beneficial moisture for the region and helping maintain local greenery.

Overall, while the storms overnight may pose some risks, the prospective warm temperatures and rain could ultimately enhance the local environment.
