Míchel is determined for Girona to bounce back from their recent defeat as they prepare to face Sevilla in a postponed LaLiga clash this Sunday. Originally scheduled for Saturday, the match was moved due to severe storms affecting southern Spain and will now kick off at 15:15 GMT.

With only a single point separating Girona from Sevilla, both teams find themselves perilously positioned in the lower half of the LaLiga table, facing the specter of relegation amid a tightly contested battle that could involve as many as eleven teams. Míchel emphasized the importance of aiming for 42 points without getting distracted by other teams’ performances.

“LaLiga isn’t easy for anyone,” the 50-year-old head coach stated during his pre-match press conference. He underscored the necessity of delivering a strong performance against Sevilla, noting, “We need to play a good game.”

Girona has seen a mix of results since the start of the year, achieving victories against Mallorca, Osasuna, and Espanyol, but encountering a setback with a draw against Getafe followed by a loss to Real Oviedo. Míchel expressed hope that the recent dropped points would merely represent an anomaly, highlighting the significance of securing a positive outcome against Sevilla following their disappointing last match.

“It’ll be a complicated game because they press very well with physical players. They’re a team that attacks effectively and applies pressure throughout the pitch,” he remarked, preparing his squad for the challenges ahead.

Last season, Girona narrowly escaped relegation, surviving the final day of the campaign with only a one-point buffer. In contrast, their performance in the 2023/24 season had been commendable, finishing third and just four points behind their rivals, Barcelona. Míchel reflected on his experience at Girona, calling it “the best era of my life as a coach,” as he praised the trust and support he has received for leading a promising project.

The eagerly anticipated match between Sevilla and Girona will take place at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, and both teams are eager to secure vital points in their quest to remain in LaLiga’s top tier.
