Happy Giving Tuesday, Stingrays fans!
On this special day of celebration and generosity, we want to share the remarkable work we’re doing to support our community.
This season, we initiated a Hurricane Helene Relief Drive to assist those severely impacted by the storm across Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Carolina. Thanks to your generous contributions, we filled an entire box truck with essential supplies such as water, baby items, and pet care products. Together, we made a difference by delivering these donations to Asheville, North Carolina, through Palmetto Paint Specialties Inc.
In just a few months since the season began, the Stingrays have dedicated themselves to community service. In the last two months, our players have volunteered over 140 hours in various activities—from participating in the Reading Buddies program with local students to coaching youth hockey sessions at the Carolina Ice Palace during travel breaks.
Even when our players are on the road, our mascot, Cool Ray, has been active in the community. Throughout October and November, Cool Ray attended more than 20 local events, including popular activities such as the City of North Charleston’s Night Out, Fish or Treat at the South Carolina Aquarium, and Pepperhill’s Trunk or Treat.
Earlier this month, we partnered with the North Charleston Community Resource Center for a special Stingrays Community Night, inviting everyone to join the fun. Players Micah Miller, Kyler Kupka, and Reilly Webb were present to lead an exciting street hockey game for children. We also provided T-shirts, water bottles, autographed photos, and foam pucks for the kids. Our community partner, ServiceMaster of Charleston, even surprised families with complimentary ice cream, creating a night full of smiles and laughter and reinforcing our commitment to giving back.
Recently, we hosted a free NHL Street Hockey Clinic at the North Charleston Sports Complex, serving over 20 local children. Each participant received a complimentary NHL Street jersey and enjoyed a two-hour clinic led by Stingrays President Rob Concannon, along with Charleston Youth Hockey Coach Ryan Blair and current Assistant Coach Mike Hamilton. To cap off the event, players Jacob Graves, Tyler Weiss, and Jordan Klimek delighted the children by signing jerseys and sticks.
Additionally, through our Assist of the Game initiative, Stingrays owner Todd Halloran donates $1,993 (representing our founding year) to local nonprofits at each home game. This season, we’ve already proudly supported various organizations and look forward to continuing this initiative. We are especially excited for the donations coming from our upcoming Teddy Bear Toss and Undie Sunday games, benefiting families in need.
During this holiday season, we are thrilled to collaborate with Blanton and Sons to provide festive cheer by delivering Christmas trees to seven deserving families, ensuring they have a joyful centerpiece for their celebrations. This partnership embodies the spirit of giving, and we are committed to spreading warmth and cheer in our community.
