This Giving Tuesday, Stingrays fans, we’re excited to share the amazing impact we’ve been making in our community.
Our season kickoff began with the Hurricane Helene Relief Drive, a crucial effort in response to the devastation left by the storm across Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, and parts of South Carolina. With your generous support, we filled an entire box truck with essential supplies such as water, baby products, and pet care items. These donations were transported to Asheville, North Carolina, by Palmetto Paint Specialties Inc., helping those who needed it most.
In the short time since our arrival, the Stingrays have dedicated over 140 volunteer hours to various initiatives. Our players have actively participated in the Reading Buddies program at local schools and assisted youth hockey practices at the Carolina Ice Palace, showcasing our commitment to empowering the youth in our community.
Even while traveling for games, our beloved mascot, Cool Ray, has been busy connecting with fans. In October and November alone, Cool Ray attended over 20 events, including the City of North Charleston’s Night Out, Fish or Treat at the South Carolina Aquarium, and Pepperhill’s Trunk or Treat.
In November, we collaborated with the North Charleston Community Resource Center for a special Stingrays Community Night, where players Micah Miller, Kyler Kupka, and Reilly Webb led a lively street hockey game for the children. We also provided T-shirts, water bottles, and assorted memorabilia for the kids, while ServiceMaster of Charleston treated families to free ice cream, creating a joyful evening for the community.
Recently, we held a complimentary NHL Street Hockey Clinic at the North Charleston Sports Complex, attracting over 20 young participants. Each received an NHL Street jersey, and Stingrays players made it memorable by signing jerseys and sticks for them.
A significant part of our mission is our Assist of the Game, through which Stingrays owner Todd Halloran donates $1,993 to local nonprofits at every home game. We’re proud to have supported various organizations this season and are excited about upcoming initiatives like our Teddy Bear Toss and Undie Sunday games.
This holiday season, we are partnering with Blanton and Sons to provide Christmas trees to seven local families, ensuring they have a festive centerpiece for their celebrations. This initiative embodies the spirit of giving, allowing us to share holiday joy with those who need it most.
Thank you for being an integral part of our efforts to positively impact the community. Your support is invaluable, and we are truly grateful for everything you do. As we look to the future, we are eager to continue our mission of community engagement and support.
Together, let’s keep shaping a brighter future for our community!
Sincerely,
The South Carolina Stingrays
