Stingrays’ Holiday Spirit: Community, Hockey, and Hope!

On this Giving Tuesday, the South Carolina Stingrays express their gratitude for the tremendous support they have received from fans while emphasizing their commitment to making a positive difference in the community.

This season commenced with a meaningful Hurricane Helene Relief Drive aimed at supporting areas severely affected by the storm, including Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Carolina. The effort was successful, filling a box truck with vital supplies such as water, baby products, and pet care items, all transported to Asheville, North Carolina, thanks to Palmetto Paint Specialties Inc.

In the last few months, the Stingrays have dedicated over 140 hours to community engagement, participating in initiatives like the Reading Buddies program at local schools and volunteering at youth hockey practices at the Carolina Ice Palace. Their beloved mascot, Cool Ray, also played a significant role by attending more than 20 community events, including the Night Out organized by the City of North Charleston and the South Carolina Aquarium’s Fish or Treat celebration.

In November, a special Community Night was held in collaboration with the North Charleston Community Resource Center. Stingrays players Micah Miller, Kyler Kupka, and Reilly Webb engaged children in a street hockey game while providing them with various gifts like T-shirts and autographed items, along with free ice cream from ServiceMaster of Charleston.

Recently, a free NHL Street Hockey Clinic attracted over 20 kids at the North Charleston Sports Complex. Participants were given complimentary NHL jerseys, and Stingrays players surprised them with signed memorabilia at the clinic’s conclusion.

The franchise continues to uphold its commitment to the community through initiatives like the Assist of the Game, where a donation of $1,993 is made to local nonprofits for each home game, highlighting the Stingrays’ dedication to local support.

Looking forward, the Stingrays are enthusiastic about upcoming events such as the Teddy Bear Toss and Undie Sunday games, with items collected going to families in need. This holiday season, they have teamed up with Blanton and Sons to provide Christmas trees to seven families, aiming to spread joy and warmth amid the celebrations.

The Stingrays thank their fans for their contributions, emphasizing that together, they are fostering a brighter future for the community. Their ongoing initiatives serve as a beacon of hope and illustrate the positive change that can result from collective efforts.

This message encapsulates the spirit of community and generosity, showcasing the power of sports teams to create meaningful change. As the holiday season approaches, the Stingrays express excitement for what lies ahead and how they can further enrich the lives of their neighbors.
