The family of renowned astrophysicist Stephen Hawking is vigorously defending his reputation following the emergence of photos related to the Jeffrey Epstein case. Hawking, an Oxford alumnus who passed away in 2018 after a long battle with motor neuron disease, was photographed at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in the U.S. Virgin Islands in 2006 during a conference on quantum cosmology hosted by Epstein.

The photos depict the esteemed professor alongside two women in bikinis, one taken at a barbecue attended by many guests and another showing Hawking aboard a modified submarine designed to accommodate his wheelchair for an exploration of the island’s seabed. In light of these images, Hawking’s family has issued a statement to refute any allegations of inappropriate behavior, labeling claims of his involvement in Epstein’s sex trafficking as “far-fetched in the extreme.”

Despite Hawking’s name appearing in the extensive files released by the Department of Justice over 250 times, his family emphasizes that mere mention in such documents does not equate to any wrongdoing. The files include a poorly written 2015 email from Epstein to his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, offering a reward for information discrediting claims that Hawking participated in any illicit activities, including an unsubstantiated tip that suggested the two had visited an all-male club together in 2011.

As discussions around the allegations continue, it is crucial to consider the broader context of the documents and the integrity of Hawking’s character. His family’s strong rebuttal reflects their commitment to preserving his legacy as one of the most influential scientists of our time, dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and understanding of the universe.
