Stellantis Announces Record $13 Billion U.S. Investment to Expand Manufacturing and Jobs

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan – Stellantis has unveiled an ambitious investment plan amounting to $13 billion over the next four years, aimed at strengthening its presence in the crucial U.S. market and enhancing its domestic manufacturing capabilities. This marks the largest investment in the company’s century-long history in the United States and is set to introduce five new vehicles across its brand portfolio in significant market segments. The plan will also lead to the production of a new four-cylinder engine and the addition of over 5,000 jobs across plants in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana.

The investment will expand Stellantis’ U.S. manufacturing footprint, increasing finished vehicle production by 50% compared to current levels. In addition, the company plans to refresh 19 products across all U.S. assembly plants and introduce updated powertrains through 2029, thereby broadening consumer options.

Antonio Filosa, Stellantis CEO and North America COO, emphasized the importance of this investment, stating, “This investment in the U.S. – the single largest in the Company’s history – will drive our growth, strengthen our manufacturing footprint, and bring more American jobs to the states we call home.” Filosa also highlighted that accelerating growth in the U.S. has been a priority and impacts the company’s global strength.

Details of the investment include significant commitments to specific plants:

In Illinois, Stellantis plans to invest over $600 million to reopen the Belvidere Assembly Plant for the production of the Jeep® Cherokee and Jeep Compass, creating approximately 3,300 new jobs with production starting in 2027.

Ohio will see an investment of nearly $400 million as the assembly of a new midsize truck moves to the Toledo Assembly Complex. This transition is expected to create over 900 jobs, with production anticipated in 2028. The investment also encompasses enhancements in technologies and production components at the Toledo Machining Plant.

In Michigan, Stellantis is set to develop a range-extended electric vehicle and internal combustion engine SUV at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant, with an investment of nearly $100 million to modernize the facility and add over 900 jobs by 2028. Additionally, a $130 million investment at the Detroit Assembly Complex – Jefferson is directed at preparing for the next-generation Dodge Durango, expected to launch in 2029.

Moreover, in Indiana, the company confirms its previous announcement about investing over $100 million in its Kokomo facilities for the production of the new GMET4 EVO four-cylinder engine, slated to begin in 2026 and resulting in more than 100 new jobs.

With a robust infrastructure that includes 34 manufacturing facilities, parts distribution centers, and research and development locations across 14 states, Stellantis supports over 48,000 employees and nearly 2,300 suppliers. This new investment solidifies the company’s ongoing commitment to growth and job creation in the U.S. market and sets the stage for its next hundred years of operations with a customer-focused strategy.
