Steelers Surge Past Jets: Wilson’s Comeback Sparks 37-15 Victory

A fresh addition to the roster contributed to a decisive victory on “Sunday Night Football,” and this time it wasn’t about Davante Adams and the New York Jets.

In his first game with Pittsburgh, after recovering from a calf injury that kept him out since the preseason, quarterback Russell Wilson rebounded from a couple of slow starts to throw for 264 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Steelers to a 37-15 triumph over New York. With this win, Pittsburgh improved to a 5-2 record.

While Justin Fields had helped the Steelers achieve a 4-2 record during Wilson’s absence, the team decided to reinstate Wilson, who was the starting quarterback prior to his injury, once he was healthy. Although Wilson struggled with some early throws against the Jets, he quickly found his stride, connecting on deep passes and completing five receptions to receiver George Pickens for a total of 111 yards.

Meanwhile, the highly anticipated partnership between Adams and Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers was a focal point this week. The Jets had recently acquired Adams from Las Vegas, a move that coincided with upheaval in the team’s management, including the dismissal of head coach Robert Saleh and the demotion of offensive play caller Nathaniel Hackett. However, the addition of Adams did not revitalize the Jets’ offense, which dropped to a 2-5 record.

Adams was targeted on nine occasions but ended up with just three receptions for 30 yards. Although his presence on the field helped create opportunities for other players, the Jets struggled to convert drives after Rodgers was intercepted twice by Beanie Bishop Jr.

Rodgers finished the game with 276 passing yards and one touchdown. On a brighter note for the Jets, pass rusher Haason Reddick concluded his contract holdout on Sunday, enabling New York to add a player with 58 career sacks to a defense that has faced significant challenges.
