A new addition to the lineup resulted in a victory on “Sunday Night Football,” but it wasn’t about Davante Adams and the New York Jets.

In his Pittsburgh debut after recovering from a calf injury that kept him out since the preseason, quarterback Russell Wilson rebounded from some initial struggles to throw for 264 yards and two touchdowns in a decisive 37-15 win over New York. With this victory, the Steelers improved their record to 5-2.

Previously, Justin Fields had led Pittsburgh to a respectable 4-2 record in Wilson’s absence, but the team decided to reinstate Wilson as he regained his health following a strong training camp performance. Although Wilson struggled with some early throws against the Jets, he quickly found his stride, connecting with receiver George Pickens five times for a total of 111 yards.

On the other side, the much-anticipated reunion between Adams and former Green Bay Packers teammate Aaron Rodgers did not revitalize the Jets’ offense. Just days after acquiring Adams from Las Vegas amid a tumultuous week that saw the firing of head coach Robert Saleh and the demotion of play caller Nathaniel Hackett, the Jets fell to 2-5. Adams was targeted nine times but managed only three receptions for 30 yards. While his presence opened opportunities for others, the Jets struggled with drive completion, especially after Rodgers was intercepted twice by Beanie Bishop Jr.

Rodgers ended the game with 276 passing yards and one touchdown. A highlight for the Jets came as pass rusher Haason Reddick ended his contract holdout on Sunday, allowing New York to bolster their defense with a player who has 58 career sacks, addressing recent injury challenges.
