The National Premier Soccer League’s Great Lakes Conference championship match between Steel City FC and Akron City FC took place on Saturday night at Founders Field. It was an evening of perfect weather, setting the stage for an exciting game. Steel City FC came out victorious with a 2-0 win, securing their second consecutive Great Lakes Conference title and continuing their pursuit of a second consecutive U.S. Open Cup berth.
Nathan Prex kicked off the scoring in the first half with a goal that put Steel City in the lead. Later, Eben McIntyre sealed the victory with a header in the 68th minute. The match was played in front of a lively crowd that filled Founders Field to standing room only in Cheswick.
