The stage was perfectly set on Saturday night for the National Premier Soccer League’s Great Lakes Conference championship match at Founders Field. On an idyllic evening, Steel City FC rose to the occasion with a 2-0 victory over Akron City FC, securing their second-consecutive Great Lakes Conference title and continuing their pursuit of a second-consecutive U.S. Open Cup berth.
Nathan Prex’s first-half goal put Steel City in the lead, and Eben McIntyre’s header in the 68th minute sealed the victory. The match was played before a lively crowd, with standing room only around Founders Field in Cheswick.
Ava Kidder was there to capture the images from this significant night, and we have featured some shots from her photo gallery here.
Special thanks to Ava and MariKaye DiTemple of Steel City FC for sharing these photos.
