2026 is set to kick off with an electrifying new series titled “Steal,” promising to be a contemporary, high-octane thriller that centers around the heist of a lifetime.
Leading the cast is Sophie Turner, known for her roles in “Game of Thrones” and “X-Men: Dark Phoenix,” who takes on the character of Zara, an office worker at a pension fund investment company. Her life spirals into chaos when a violent gang invades the office, forcing her and her best friend Luke, played by Archie Madekwe of “Saltburn,” to comply with their demands.
The plot thickens as DCI Rhys, portrayed by Jacob Fortune-Lloyd from “Bodies,” races against time to uncover who is behind the massive theft of “billions of pounds from ordinary people’s pensions.” The storyline intensifies as Rhys grapples with a recent relapse into gambling addiction, complicating his efforts to solve the crime while concealing his own financial struggles.
Written by debut screenwriter SA Nikias, “Steal” consists of six episodes and will be available for streaming on Prime Video starting January 21, 2026. Sam Miller, acclaimed for his work on “I May Destroy You” and “Black Mirror,” alongside Hettie Macdonald, known for “Normal People,” will be directing the series.
Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, previously highlighted “Steal” as a “uniquely thrilling ride” that offers a “gripping, addictive, entertaining” narrative. The team behind the show, including Rebecca de Souza and Greg Brenman from Drama Republic, expressed their excitement over Nikias’s script, describing it as a rollercoasting, nail-biting experience that attracted an impressive ensemble cast and creative team.
“Steal” is poised to be a captivating addition to the lineup of Prime Video, further enriching the platform’s offerings for viewers seeking compelling drama and thrill.
