Star Wars Outlaws: Ambitious Galaxy Adventure Faces Major Hurdles

Star Wars Outlaws, developed by the publisher behind Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry, aims to merge the iconic movie franchise with the popular format of open-world action-adventure games. The game features a vast galaxy divided into multiple systems, each with unique hub worlds that showcase distinct natural environments.

Players can explore the familiar desert landscape of Tatooine, a frosty winter planet, lush jungles filled with vines, and expansive savannas. In space, players navigate through cloudy nebulas and the remnants of previous space battles, engaging in combat against pirates or facing off against Imperial TIE fighters under a starlit sky.

However, the game’s large scale comes with certain drawbacks, as Star Wars Outlaws lacks the high level of refinement that is typically expected from major video game releases like those from Ubisoft. Players may experience frustration due to awkward geometry that causes them to fall unexpectedly or lose control while navigating the environment. Additionally, the blaster fire sometimes fails to register accurately, hitting invisible barriers while enemies appear to detect players through them, complicating the stealth elements that are central to gameplay.

Consequently, the game struggles with its ambition, showcasing a level of unpredictability reminiscent of the Elder Scrolls series, but without offering a similar range of interactive choices.
