The anticipation for the third season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds continues to build as fans also celebrate the recent announcement of a fifth and final season renewal. At a press junket for the third season, Rebecca Romijn, who portrays Una Chin-Reilly, shared insights on the cast’s reaction to the news.
Romijn revealed that the cast learned of the renewal “during production, not long ago,” coinciding with the public announcement. Currently, they are filming the fourth season in Toronto, which started in March and is now halfway completed.
Expressing gratitude, Romijn noted, “We’re very grateful to get to complete our five-year mission, which was the original plan. Not all series get five seasons. It’s exciting to wrap up all the storylines for everyone.” She hinted at the plentiful content still to come, stating, “The fans have more episodes to look forward to than have already aired so far. There are two and a half seasons to go.”
Christina Chong, who plays La’an Noonien-Singh, shared in Romijn’s sentiment, agreeing with her thoughts on the completion of the series.
The comments from Romijn and Chong echoed those of the showrunners, including executive producer Akiva Goldsman, who discussed the characters’ development and the promise of answering critical questions about their futures. Executive producer Henry Alonso Myers emphasized the importance of crafting a definitive ending, highlighting the rare opportunity they have to conclude their story appropriately.
As fans eagerly await the debut of Season 3 on July 17 on Paramount+, additional insights and updates from the cast will be unveiled in the upcoming days.
This combination of confirmed renewed episodes and a meaningful conclusion gives fans hope for a rewarding end to their favorite series, making the journey worthwhile.
