The third night of the 2024 Democratic National Convention is in full swing at the United Center, featuring an impressive lineup of performers and speakers. Stevie Wonder is the headline act, known for his political anthems, such as his 1970 track “Signed, Sealed, Delivered,” which was famously used during Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign.
In addition to Wonder, country music star Maren Morris and Grammy-winning artist John Legend are set to take the stage. Legend will pay tribute to Prince’s music while introducing remarks from Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
Wonder’s performance is scheduled for just before 8 p.m., following content creator Olivia Julianna’s speech and leading into a segment with comedian and actor Kenan Thompson, who will discuss Project 2025. Morris will perform around 7 p.m., right after speeches by Jon Polin and Rachel Goldberg, parents of Hersh Goldberg-Polin, an Israeli-American hostage taken during the Hamas attacks on Israel on October 7. Meanwhile, Legend’s performance will precede Governor Walz’s speech shortly before 10 p.m.
If you want to watch the event, NBC Chicago will stream speeches and performances from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on their player and the NBC 5 Chicago News 24/7 streaming channel. Performances will also be available on the station’s YouTube channel.
Wonder’s set is anticipated to fill the first hour of the convention, where he will deliver a brief address before performing. Morris is expected to take the stage in the 7 p.m. hour, followed by Legend in the 9 p.m. hour.
Stevie Wonder previously entertained at Obama’s inaugural celebration in 2009 and received the Gershwin Prize from Obama that same year, along with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2014. Legend has also been supportive of President Biden and performed at his inauguration in 2021. His performance tonight will highlight both Prince and Governor Walz as he prepares to accept the party’s nomination for vice president.
Other artists who have participated in the convention include Jason Isbell, Patti LaBelle, and Lil Jon. There are rumors that Pink may also perform tomorrow before Vice President Kamala Harris’s nomination speech.
