Carrie Underwood, the acclaimed country music star, is set to perform at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration next week, according to a spokesperson from the inaugural committee. This indicates that Trump’s second inauguration may feature notable performers that surpass those in 2017.
Underwood, who rose to fame after winning “American Idol” in 2005, will sing “America the Beautiful” just before Trump is sworn into office on January 20. She will be joined by the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club for this significant performance. Additionally, opera singer Christopher Macchio has been announced to sing the national anthem.
In contrast to his first inauguration in 2017, which showcased artists like Toby Keith, 3 Doors Down, and Jackie Evancho—who performed the national anthem—this new lineup suggests a different and possibly more high-profile entertainment roster.
The inaugural festivities will commence with a celebration at Trump’s golf club in Sterling, Virginia, on Saturday. The following day will see Trump visiting Arlington National Cemetery and holding a rally at the Capital One Arena in Washington before enjoying a candlelight dinner.
Inauguration Day activities will include a church service and tea at the White House with President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. The day will also feature a parade down Pennsylvania Avenue and multiple inaugural balls.
Interestingly, the celebrated group Village People has also announced their participation in inaugural activities, confirming they will perform at at least one event alongside President-elect Trump.
This inauguration marks a moment of unity and celebration, highlighting the importance of musical performances in American culture and the role they play in such historic events.
