Washington — Country music icon Carrie Underwood is scheduled to perform at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration next week, as confirmed by an inaugural committee spokesperson. This announcement suggests that Trump’s second inauguration may feature a lineup of bigger names compared to his first ceremony eight years ago.
Underwood, who rose to fame after winning “American Idol” in 2005, is set to deliver a rendition of “America the Beautiful” prior to Trump taking the oath of office on January 20. She will be joined by the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club. Additionally, opera singer Christopher Macchio will sing the national anthem during the event.
Looking back at Trump’s inaugural events in 2017, the concert at the Lincoln Memorial featured renowned artists such as Toby Keith, 3 Doors Down, and Lee Greenwood, with Jackie Evancho performing the national anthem.
The inauguration festivities will commence with a celebration at Trump’s golf club in Sterling, Virginia, an hour outside of Washington. Following that, Trump will visit Arlington National Cemetery and host a rally at Capital One Arena in Washington, gathering with supporters. A candlelight dinner is also on the agenda for later that evening.
On Inauguration Day, attendees can expect a church service and a tea gathering with President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, followed by Trump’s swearing-in ceremony. The day will also include a parade down Pennsylvania Avenue and three inaugural balls. Notably, the Village People have confirmed their participation in inaugural activities, including performances at events alongside the President-elect.
This inauguration promises to blend both entertainment and ceremonial traditions, offering a unique experience for attendees and viewers alike. It showcases the ongoing connection between music, culture, and political events in the United States.
