Washington — Country music sensation Carrie Underwood is set to grace the stage at President-elect Donald Trump’s upcoming inauguration, confirmed by a spokesperson for the inaugural committee. This announcement hints at a potentially star-studded lineup for Trump’s second swearing-in, aiming to surpass the performances of his first inauguration eight years prior.

Underwood, who rose to fame after winning “American Idol” in 2005, will perform “America the Beautiful” as Trump takes the oath of office on January 20. Accompanying her will be the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club. Additionally, opera singer Christopher Macchio is scheduled to perform the national anthem.

Looking back at the festivities from 2017, Trump’s inaugural concert at the Lincoln Memorial featured artists such as Toby Keith, 3 Doors Down, and Lee Greenwood, with former “America’s Got Talent” contestant Jackie Evancho singing the national anthem at the ceremony.

Inaugural celebrations begin on Saturday at Trump’s golf club in Sterling, Virginia. The following day, Trump will pay respects at Arlington National Cemetery prior to a rally at Capital One Arena in Washington, which promises to energize his supporters. A candlelight dinner is also planned for that evening.

Inauguration Day will include a church service and a tea session at the White House with President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden ahead of the ceremonial swearing-in. The day’s events will feature a parade along Pennsylvania Avenue and three inaugural balls. Additionally, the Village People, famed for their hit “Y.M.C.A.,” have announced their participation in inaugural activities, confirming at least one performance with President-elect Trump.

This inauguration, marked by high-profile performances and a festive atmosphere, aims to reflect a sense of unity and celebration despite political divides, offering moments for all to come together.
