Star-Studded Lineup and Heartfelt Tributes Await at the 2025 ESPYS!

This Wednesday, the excitement builds as some of the world’s top sports figures and celebrities gather for The 2025 ESPYS Presented by Capital One. The event, hosted by Shane Gillis, will take place at The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on July 16, airing live on ABC at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT. Fans can also catch the ceremony via ESPN+, with on-demand viewing available the following day on Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+.

The evening promises to be a memorable celebration of sports, revisiting the year’s most impressive moments while honoring iconic athletes. Among this year’s honorees are former WNBA star Diana Taurasi and former USWNT player Alex Morgan, who will receive the prestigious Icon Award in recognition of their significant contributions to sports.

The event will feature diverse talent, including presenters like actress Angela Bassett, tennis legend Billie Jean King, comedian Leslie Jones, and numerous athletic icons like Russell Wilson and Lindsey Vonn. Musical performances from Grammy-nominated rapper Busta Rhymes, hip-hop duo Clipse, and rising artist GELO will enhance the night, capped by a heartfelt In Memoriam tribute led by Tobe Nwigwe.

Additional honors will also be presented during the ceremony: former NBA player Oscar Robertson will receive the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage, while Katie Schumacher-Cawley, head coach of Penn State women’s volleyball, will be recognized with the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance. The Pat Tillman Award for Service will honor Greater Los Angeles first responders David Walters and Erin Regan.

The ESPYS have remained a platform not only to celebrate athletic prowess but also to support charitable causes. Over the past 32 years, ESPN has raised more than $265 million for the V Foundation for Cancer Research, continuing the legacy of its founder, the late Jim Valvano.

To add to the festivities, Shane Gillis will appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on July 14, providing a glimpse into his hosting duties. Meanwhile, ESPN’s SportsCenter: 50 States in 50 Days will feature live coverage from the red carpet, showcasing the inaugural cross-country tour of this magnitude since 2005, allowing fans nationwide to engage with their sports personalities.

This year’s ESPYS, with its blend of significant awards, star power, and commitment to philanthropy, promises to be an inspiring celebration of sports and excellence.
