A new wave of talent is set to enrich the enchanting world of Harry Potter, with both fresh faces and familiar veterans joining the cast for Pottermore and Audible’s upcoming full-cast audiobooks. Bill Nighy, who previously portrayed Rufus Scrimgeour, is stepping into the role of Professor Slughorn. David Holmes, returning as Stan Shunpike, was notably a stunt double for Daniel Radcliffe in the films. Other new additions include Saoirse-Monica Jackson as Professor Trelawney, Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù as Sirius Black, Anna Maxwell Martin as Rita Skeeter, Mackenzie Crook as Kreacher, Stephen Mangan as Nearly Headless Nick, and Tracy-Ann Oberman as Madam Hooch.
The new Hogwarts students are also making their debut, with Millie Gubby cast as Luna Lovegood. Jude Farrant will lend his voice to Draco Malfoy in the first three audiobooks, while Maximus Evans will take over for the subsequent entries. Jake Sigsworth will voice Neville Longbottom in the first three installments, with Archie Mountain following in the later books.
Bill Nighy spoke with enthusiasm about his involvement, expressing gratitude for the chance to contribute to the legacy of Harry Potter for new generations. He reflected on the significance of portraying academic roles, despite his own limited formal education, hoping to provide entertainment during long journeys.
David Holmes echoed these sentiments, describing his role in the project as a full-circle moment. Having previously performed as a stunt double in the Knight Bus scene from “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,” he is excited to bring the character of Stan Shunpike to life for both existing fans and new audiences.
This new ensemble will join a star-studded lineup that includes Hugh Laurie as Albus Dumbledore, Matthew Macfadyen as Lord Voldemort, Riz Ahmed as Professor Snape, and Michelle Gomez as Professor McGonagall, among others. The beloved trio of Harry, Ron, and Hermione will be portrayed by Frankie Treadaway, Max Lester, and Arabella Stanton in the first three audiobooks, with Jaxon Knopf, Rhys Mulligan, and Nina Barker-Francis taking over in later installments. The entire series will be narrated by Cush Jumbo, ensuring a captivating experience for listeners.
Fans can look forward to the release of the first audiobook, “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s/Sorcerer’s Stone,” set to debut on Audible on November 4. Following this, additional installments will be rolled out monthly, continuing the magic of J.K. Rowling’s beloved series.
With such a talented cast on board and the commitment to bringing these stories to life, the project promises to delight both seasoned fans and newcomers to the wizarding world. The excitement surrounding this new chapter is palpable, and future announcements are eagerly anticipated as the release date approaches.
