Dame Elaine Paige and Bernadette Peters are set to co-host the third annual West End Woofs (and Meows) event at St Paul’s Church in Covent Garden on Saturday, 9 August at 10:15 am. Following last year’s successful adoption event where many pets found loving homes, this year’s live event promotes the welfare of animals by collaborating with various shelters and rescue groups.
Tickets for the event are priced at £5 per person, and all proceeds will support participating shelters and their charitable initiatives. The day will kick off with a meet-and-greet featuring adoptable dogs and cats, followed by a stage showcase at 11:00 am where these pets will take the spotlight alongside talented stars from hit shows like Hamilton, Les Misérables, and The Phantom of the Opera.
Both Paige and Peters have expressed their excitement about the return of the event, highlighting its growing popularity and the community’s passionate response. Paige stated, “Dozens of adorable dogs and cats found their forever homes last year, and this year, we’re going even bigger!” Peters echoed this sentiment, noting the profound impact the event has had on animal adoption.
Participating shelters at West End Woofs include All Dogs Matter, Pro Dogs Direct, and Noah’s Ark Dog Rescue, among others, with representatives also present from Mayhew Therapaws to discuss their work.
This lively event aims not only to facilitate pet adoption but also to spread awareness of the need for animal welfare in an engaging atmosphere filled with entertainment and the joy of finding a pet companion. With the support of the public and the entertainment community, more animals can be placed in loving homes, promoting the well-being of pets in need.
