Washington — Country music sensation Carrie Underwood is set to perform at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration next week, as confirmed by an inaugural committee spokesperson. This announcement hints that Trump’s second inauguration may feature even more prominent names than his first in 2017.
Underwood, who rose to fame after winning “American Idol” in 2005, will sing “America the Beautiful” prior to Trump taking the oath of office on January 20. She will be joined by the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club. Additionally, opera singer Christopher Macchio is slated to perform the national anthem.
For Trump’s first inauguration in 2017, the entertainment included Toby Keith, 3 Doors Down, and Lee Greenwood at a concert held at the Lincoln Memorial, along with Jackie Evancho singing the national anthem during the ceremony.
The inaugural celebrations will kick off on Saturday at Trump’s golf club in Sterling, Virginia, about an hour’s drive from Washington. On Sunday, events will include a visit to Arlington National Cemetery, a rally at Capital One Arena in Washington, and a candlelight dinner later that evening.
Inauguration Day will feature a church service, tea at the White House with President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, a parade down Pennsylvania Avenue, and three inaugural balls. Notably, The Village People announced on social media that they have accepted an invitation to participate in inaugural activities, including at least one event with Trump.
This inaugural celebration seems poised to blend tradition with star power, showcasing a mix of renowned artists while honoring the significance of the day.
