Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas have publicly backed Kamala Harris in her 2024 presidential campaign. The musicians took to Instagram on National Voter Registration Day to announce their support.
Eilish stated in a video, “We are voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz because they are fighting to protect our reproductive freedom, our planet, and our democracy. Vote like your life depends on it, because it does.”
Finneas emphasized the importance of voting, saying, “We can’t let extremists control our lives, our freedoms, and our future. The only way to stop them and the dangerous Project 2025 agenda is to vote and elect Kamala Harris.”
The pair encouraged their followers to visit iwillvote.com to check their voter registration status and to plan how to cast their votes.
In 2020, Eilish supported Joe Biden, performing and speaking at the Democratic National Convention, where she was vocal against then-President Donald Trump. During that virtual event, she remarked on the need for leadership that addresses issues like climate change and systemic racism, urging support for Biden over Trump.
Their endorsement follows a recent show of support for Harris from Taylor Swift, whose announcement spurred a significant increase in visitors to the vote.gov website, highlighting the importance of voter registration and participation.
Additionally, Beyoncé has allowed Harris to use her song “Freedom” from 2016 as the campaign’s anthem, while other artists like Megan Thee Stallion, Bon Iver, Barbra Streisand, and John Legend have also expressed their support for the Harris-Walz ticket. Other notable appearances at the 2024 DNC included Pink, The Chicks, Lil Jon, and DJ Cassidy.
