Star Citizen has released its latest monthly development report, providing insights into the ongoing progress and upcoming updates for its vast universe. The report outlines several roadmap adjustments and highlights key developments that players can anticipate in the near future.
In the roadmap update, several new missions have now been categorized as “committed” under the alpha 4.1 development phase. Notably, players will soon be able to engage in various missions, such as hunting for a Polaris, participating in animal hunting quests, and undertaking maintenance tasks for Pyro outposts that involve infrastructure repairs. Additionally, players can look forward to enhancements like component balancing tailored to ship classes and the introduction of new hairstyles. Ongoing development also includes a fresh sandbox location, new activities, upgraded radiation mechanics, a new vehicle, and a new creature.
The April 2025 report delves into the extensive work focused on refining the flight model. This includes revisions to ship damage effects and component failures, the implementation of “soft death” for ships, and refinements to atmospheric flight and gliding mechanics for a more immersive experience. CIG is also addressing both new and persistent bugs encountered in the current alpha build, notably issues related to quantum travel, freight elevators, ship claims, and inventory flow.
Additionally, CIG is working on new Player versus Environment (PvE) ship battle missions, which will feature ambush events, along with confirming that three new ships will be available during this year’s Invictus free fly event. The report teases the development of four additional vehicles, yet details remain scarce. However, it is noted that one of these vehicles will be a long-awaited introduction from an existing manufacturer.
Overall, the ongoing updates and enhancements reflect CIG’s commitment to evolving the Star Citizen universe and providing players with a richer and more dynamic gaming experience. The combination of new missions, vehicle updates, and system refinements bodes well for fans of the game, promising an exciting period ahead as these features come to fruition.
