John Stamos has publicly expressed his support for his former Full House co-star, Dave Coulier, after Coulier shared his recent diagnosis of Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Stamos took to Instagram to convey his brotherly love, posting a series of nostalgic photos of the duo, which included moments from their time on the beloved sitcom. In his heartfelt message, Stamos wrote, “My brother from day 1. Love you @dcoulier and I’ll be by your side through it all.”
Coulier revealed the news of his diagnosis during an interview on the Today show. He recounted feeling unwell for about a month before discovering a swollen lymph node in his groin. Initially, tests returned normal results, giving him a sense of relief. “Blood tests came back great. My EKG, everything great. Heart, everything perfect,” Coulier stated. However, as the lump grew, doctors decided to surgically remove and biopsy it. Unfortunately, test results confirmed Coulier had B-cell lymphoma. The actor shared his shock, saying, “The first thing I said to them was, ‘Wait a minute — cancer?’ It felt like I got punched in the stomach because it never happens to you. You always hear about it happening to someone else.”
Despite the difficult diagnosis, Coulier has already started his chemotherapy journey and anticipates completing treatment by February 2025, describing the experience as “a bit of a roller coaster.”
Stamos and Coulier portrayed Jesse Katsopolis and Joey Gladstone, respectively, on Full House for nearly a decade, developing a bond that has endured long after the series concluded in 1995. The tight-knit cast has remained close, especially in light of the passing of their co-star Bob Saget in 2022. Following Saget’s death, Stamos felt inspired to write a memoir about his life, titled If You Would Have Told Me, which was published last year. In a reflective statement, Stamos acknowledged that he never anticipated writing a memoir but was motivated by the loss of Saget, the joys of fatherhood, and his desire to celebrate the influential people in his life.
Despite the challenges Coulier faces, the support he receives from Stamos and others reflects the strong bonds built during their time on Full House. As he moves forward with his treatment, the love from friends and colleagues serves as a reminder that he is not alone in this fight.
This heartfelt support from Stamos and the resilience displayed by Coulier during this trying time showcases the enduring friendships formed in the entertainment industry, reminding us that even amidst adversity, there is a community ready to uplift and encourage.
