Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is enjoying a strong season, and recent injury updates signal that his momentum could continue in their Week 10 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. The Rams announced that Stafford’s standout wide receiver, Puka Nacua, is set to play, providing a significant boost to the team’s offensive lineup.
Head coach Sean McVay expressed confidence in Nacua’s availability ahead of practice on Friday. Nacua himself expressed optimism after a productive Thursday practice, stating, “Feel good… I’ll be ready to roll.” He conveyed that he felt good following a practice with physical intensity, noting, “That’s a good sign.”
In addition to Nacua, the Rams saw Jordan Whittington return to practice after missing the previous two sessions. McVay listed Whittington as questionable, but he also indicated an expectation for Whittington to participate against the 49ers. However, the Rams will still be without Tutu Atwell, who remains on injured reserve due to a hamstring issue.
Nacua exuded confidence about the team’s offensive progress, stressing the importance of finishing plays and executing consistently. He remarked on the team’s improvements throughout the season, noting, “Everybody feels like we’re moving in stride.” Highlighting Stafford’s leadership, Nacua dubbed him “Captain 9,” alluding to Stafford’s pivotal role in their strong start and early MVP talks, contributing to the Rams’ current 6-2 record.
In another positive development, cornerback Darious Williams has been cleared to return after missing last week’s game due to a shoulder issue. The Rams bolstered their defensive backfield by acquiring cornerback Roger McCreary from the Tennessee Titans, enhancing their depth alongside players like Cobie Durant and Emmanuel Forbes. Should Ahkello Witherspoon return from injured reserve, the Rams’ secondary could become particularly formidable.
While some players such as Alaric Jackson, Byron Young, and Tyler Higbee were listed as DNPs on Friday, it was noted they were given rest days rather than due to injury, ensuring they are ready for the crucial clash against the 49ers. With all these developments, the Rams are looking to maintain their positive momentum in the coming game.
