The institute also manages multiple donor-funded projects that not only enhance productivity but also help sustain the livelihoods of farmers dependent on the sugar industry.
During his tour of the research facilities, the Minister engaged with staff regarding their ongoing programs and highlighted the necessity for ongoing excellence and innovative approaches in their work.
Minister Tunabuna reaffirmed the government’s commitment to utilizing science-based solutions to promote sustainable growth within Fiji’s sugar industry, showcasing a promising outlook for both the sector and the farmers it serves. The combination of innovative research and robust government support indicates a dedicated effort to rejuvenate and transform Fiji’s sugar landscape, striving for both economic resilience and agricultural sustainability.
